Pimpama State School offers a comprehensive music program for all students. The overall aim of the program is to have children enjoy music, develop skills in the basic musical concepts of beat, rhythm, pitch, dynamics, tempo and form as well as encouraging the development of confidence and social skills through creative expression in active music making.
Weekly class music lessons (45 minutes)
In class lessons children are exposed to a variety of musical styles through which they learn to read, write, play, sing, and move to music. In the near future technology will play an important part in the creation of original compositions and children will have the opportunity to experience the real world through workshops with professional musicians and musical groups.
Choral program (year 2 - 7)
Any child who enjoys singing is encouraged to join the choir who rehearse once a week and perform regularly on parade, at school functions and at the local Eisteddfod. This is an excellent opportunity for students to develop their vocal, musical, social and team skills, including building self confidence through public performance.
Introduction to band program (year 5 - 7)
This program gives students the opportunity to learn a woodwind, percussion or brass instrument through group lessons and ensemble rehearsals. The highlight of this group is to give children the experience of playing an instrument and performing as a band ensemble.
