Health and Physical Education
At Pimpama State School, we encourage students to live an active and healthy lifestyle by offering many opportunities and experiences. Physical activity opportunities are provided through health and physical education activities, sport, recreation and games. All activities are designed to encourage positive attitudes, co-operation, sportsmanship and to develop individual skill levels.
Daily physical activities
Daily Physical Activity program includes a variety of game based activities which promote co-operation, and development of skills. As a part of the Smart Moves initiative, each student should be participating in 30 minutes of physical activity of at least moderate intensity each day. For more information on visit Smart Moves
Physical Education Specialist Lessons
Physical Education lessons are conducted for each class for 45minutes, one day per week. The program includes activities to develop a co-operation, sportsmanship and skill level which can be used in a variety of sports and games such as Lacrosse, Ten-Pin Bowling, Australian Football, Touch Football, T-Ball, Swimming, Orienteering, Gymnastics, Dance, Netball, Volleyball and Bocce.
Intra-school sport encompasses annual all-day events such as swimming, athletics and cross-country carnivals. Other intra-school activities may be house-based lunchtime or sport afternoon competitions and Jump Rope for Heart.
Interschool sport program includes inter-school carnivals – district swimming, athletics and cross-country carnivals. Representative sport – students have the opportunity to gain representative selection in a number of sports throughout the year, at district, regional and national level, depending on the child’s ability and selection processes.
In term four each year we offer swimming lessons to all students from Prep to Year 4. These lessons consist of ten 45 minute sessions conducted by paid professional swimming instructors at an indoor, heated swimming pool over a period of 8 weeks.
