Pimpama Music

The music staff at Pimpama, with the support of the administrative team, uphold music as an important focus within a child’s education. Music Education has many positive flow-on effects to other areas of learning. When playing a musical instrument, students are engaging in mathematical, linguistic, spatial and creative thinking. They are also honing their fine-motor skills, developing their individual confidence through performance and exercising team-work skills when working as part of an ensemble.

Students at Pimpama participate in classroom music as part of the curriculum and can also be involved in the extra-curricular programs on offer.

Class Music Program

Our specialist music teacher visits Pimpama State School for four days a week, to teach an aural, sequential and developmental music program which uses the voice as the main tool. Pimpama students have a music lesson once a week with the music teacher. Music programs focus on students making music and developing the ability to think and express themselves in sound. Learning is activity based and through a variety of such activities, the children are taught the basic skills of music - beat, rhythm, pitch, singing, movement, listening, musical literacy, creating and playing. By the end of year six, students will have used untuned percussion, xylophone, recorder and ukulele.

Students may also elect to be in one of the school's performing groups including Choir, Band or String Ensemble.
