Year 4

Year 4 Camp, Term 1 - Tyalgum Ridge Retreat

Tyalgum Ridge Retreat is situated high inside the northwest perimeter of the Tweed Valley in northern NSW (approximately 30 minutes west of Murwillumbah.) The Tweed Valley or the "Green Cauldron" is surrounded by the eroded crater of one of the world’s largest known extinct volcanoes. Ancient rainforests, fast flowing creeks, waterfalls and outstanding views are all features of the Retreat.

Programmes are based around small group interaction where students are encouraged to show personal initiative and leadership in well planned, challenging outdoor activities. Some of the activities the students have participated in include: bushwalking, canoeing, flying fox, creek discovery, group initiative games, camp fire cooking, farm animals, low ropes and archery. During this camp students also investigate and have an appreciation of the natural environment around them.

Year 4 at Ashmore Bike Centre

In Term 3 the Year 4 classes travel to the Ashmore Bike Centre to practise bike skills and to learn about road safety. This interactive programme has the students not only learning the road rules and signs, but ensures they use them with bikes provided by the centre on a specially built road system. This road safety programme, which is provided by the Gold Coast City Council, is only available to Year 4 students.
