Parent and Community Engagement Framework (PDF, 560KB)

Men's Shed

Men's Sheds play an important role in the overall health and well-being of males. They also help males to positively engage within their community for the benefit of their community. They foster community spirit, connect communities and contribute to building more inclusive environments.

Pimpama State School have been fortunate enough to have had a number of projects uniquely restored for our school museum, as well as a number of hand-made projects for around our school. We strongly support the Men's Shed group within our community and will continue to support them in the future.

Bunnings

Pimpama State School has been lucky enough to have received donations over the years from Bunnings for seedlings and plants for our gardens. They have been very helpful and are always more than happy to donate their products to help our school community. There is a new Bunnings now open at Pimpama and we look forward to developing a close relationship with them as well.

Kindergartens and Child Care Centres

Pimpama State School has links with local kindergartens and childcare centres. The following list is not inclusive: C&K Coomera Springs; Edge Early Learning; Creative Minds Early Learning; Coomera Clubhouse; Pimpama Early Learning Centre and Goodstart Early Learning.

During Semester One, the directors are invited to a morning tea and tour of the school to discuss our prep year and an exchange of programmes. Mid year, school enrolment packs are hand delivered to the centres. Later in the year, they are invited again individually to discuss students that are transitioning from their kindergarten to our prep. Students' Transition Statements are prepared by the kindergartens and uploaded to the QCAA website or provided directly to the school. Prep teachers are provided with copies of the Transition Statements.

Neighbouring Schools

Pimpama State School has a close relationship with our neighbouring schools to enhance student's learning and experiences. We are working with Pimpama State Secondary College, Pimpama State Primary College, Ormeau State School, Norfolk Village State School, Gainsborough State School, Highland Reserve State School, Picnic Creek State School, Woongoolba State School, Coomera Rivers State School, Coomera Springs State School and many other schools. Students from Pimpama State School have the opportunity to participate in a number of sporting activities, chess tournaments and speaking competitions with a variety of schools in our area.

Health and Fitness

Pimpama State School has a partnership with a Health and Fitness agency. This agency offers weekly BoxFit classes to the staff at Pimpama to enhance our physical and mental well-being. This opportunity helps to build staff morality and is something that staff look forward to each week.

Yoga is also offered at our school every Wednesday afternoon for staff to help them relax their mind and body.

Fathering Project

The Fathering Project In Schools is about giving kids the best fathers and father-figures they can have. Within schools, they work with both staff and fathers, supporting them to build our community of positively engaged families – for the benefit of the kids. Pimpama State School will be having a launch party in Week 8 of Term 1.

Jacobs Well Environmental Education Centre

Each year, a selection of Year 6 students attend the Jacobs Well Writers Workshop which is held at the Jacobs Well Environmental Education Centre. This workshop is presented by award-winning author Anita Bell who mentors the students as they create their very own short stories. Students dress in their comfiest outdoor clothing and trek through the beautiful surroundings at the JWEEC to find inspiration for their writing. We have had the pleasure of offering these enriching experiences for over 10 years and look forward to further connections in the future years.

Japanese Sister School

In Hiroshima, the beautiful city with two World Heritage sites in Japan, we have a Sister School called Hesaka Elementary School. We have a really strong relationship with Hesaka Elementary School and have had for a number of years. Students from both schools exchange written letters and cards, and draw pictures for one another about school news, ourselves and what we learn at school. It is a great opportunity for students to see how other students learn in different cultures. Teachers and staff also make reciprocal school visits in order to learn from each other.

Pimpama State School also host Japanese students through the EQI Study Tour. Our school community provides homes for students to stay in for 2 weeks and a learning environment for the students to learn.

Griffith University

Pimpama State School has a partnership with Griffith University. The university supports the annual Science Fair and STEAM Pentathlon by providing expert input and judges for student projects. Our students who excel at Science participate in the Griffith University Gold Coast Science competition. In 2020, Pimpama State School were the runners up for this prestigious competition. Our school also partners with Griffith University by mentoring preservice teachers.

Helping Hands

Helping Hands is a before and after school care provided on site for the students at our school. It is run in the mornings from 6:00am until the beginning of the school day, and after school until 6:00pm. It also operates during the school holidays and offers excursions and a range of fun activities.

Gullivers

Pimpama State School has had a partnership with Gullivers for a number of years. A number of our students attend their before and after school care program and they are on site to pick up and drop off students each day. Our swimming program from Prep-Year 4 is also run through Gullivers each year.
