Prep is an early education program, only offered in primary schools.
It is a full-time program, and children attend from Monday to Friday during normal school hours. Pimpama State School hours are 8:20am – 2:35pm.
Children must be 5 years old by 30 June in the year they start Prep. You can check to see if your child is eligible for Prep this year by using the online calculator External link.
It is available in all Queensland state schools and most non-state schools offering a primary program.
Prep is integrated fully into the rest of the school. Classrooms and other facilities are located in school grounds.
Prep provides the foundation for your child's success at school by developing:
- a positive approach to learning
- independence and confidence
- thinking and problem-solving skills
- language skills
- early literacy and numeracy
- physical abilities, including gross and fine motor skills
Enrolling for Prep next year?
With our future Prep students preparing to take their first steps into Primary school, we have developed a Pimpama Pre-Prep Program to assist in the process of 'getting ready for school'.
Once you have submitted your online enrolment application, our office staff will be in contact with you to assist you with the information you will need. You will need to bring in the required documents which are listed in the Enrolments section of our website prior to your child's interview.
You and your child will be required to attend an enrolment interview and invited to attend our Prep Orientation Day in Term 4.
Please feel free to contact the office if you have any questions in regard to this process.
