Wakakirri is Australia’s Largest Performing Arts Event for Schools with
separate events for Primary and Secondary schools. Each year schools
across Australia create Story Dances for Wakakirri that reflect
student’s thoughts, ideas and aspirations. These stories are performed
in professional theatres in front of the official ‘Wakakirri Panel’ who
are searching for ‘Story of the Year’.
Wakakirri Story:
Pimpama State School performed a story which showcases the Multiculturalism in Australia. This story begins with a family who is undecided on where they should move to. This family stops at many different countries, exploring the culture, values and lifestyle. They face challenges in each place, such as the climate, wildlife and language barrier. Hence, the family decide to board a flight to the sunny, majestic country of Australia. They are mesmerised by this beautiful country and all it has to offer, including a variety of different cultures. The family fell in love with Australia and now call the ‘Land Down Under’ home.
