The Seven Steps to
Writing Success is a school wide writing program implemented within the
classroom learning environment. The program focuses on persuasive and narrative
genres and has seven steps that are explicitly taught. The advantage of all
classes and teachers using the same strategies and language is that consistency
and alignment assists in the teaching of writing strategies across the school. The
Seven Steps are used to complement the units of work that are already taught in
the classroom. Every day, after students have completed their before school
reading they are given 10 minutes to write for enjoyment. Many of the students
at Pimpama State School, say that this is the best part of their day.
